Graduation Information

There will be one ceremony at the Mt. Vernon campus for all graduates. This includes graduates from the External Program.

In order to graduate with a degree from Brewton-Parker College, you must do the following:

     * Complete all degree requirements

     * Apply for graduation for the term you will complete the requirements

     * Have the degree awarded by the faculty

Participation in the May ceremony is celebratory and encouraged, but it is optional.  You are eligible to participate if:

      * You have met the published application deadline

      * You have or will have earned your degree in that academic year

* Students who complete in December will have their degrees conferred and transcripts annotated in December and may receive their diplomas in mid-January.  

* Students completing in summer semester will have their degrees conferred and transcripts annotated after the faculty returns in September and may receive their diplomas by mid-September.

  • Student Activity Center [new gymnasium]
  • Caps and gowns will be given out at that time

Ceremony

  • Saturday, May 9th, 10:00 AM
  • Student Activity Center [new gymnasium]
  • Please inform your guests they should be IN PLACE before 9:30 AM. Guests arriving late will miss some of the ceremony and distract others already there as they enter.
Limitations on number of guests: NONE

SUMMER GRADUATES PARTICIPATING IN THE MAY CEREMONY

You must be pre-registered for ALL remaining courses in order to walk in the May ceremony.

The summer schedule will not be published until after the deadline for withdrawing your application. If you need to know what courses will be offered at your location, ask your site director or the chair of the division which would offer the course(s) you need.

DRESS CODE: DARK SLACKS OR SKIRT SHOWING BELOW THE BLACK GOWN. DARK SHOES. MEN: DRESS SHIRTS SHOWING AT THE COLLAR WITH OR WITHOUT A TIE. WOMEN: DRESSY BLOUSE SHOWING AT NECKLINE, OR ACCESSORIZE WITH ATTRACTIVE JEWELRY. OVERALL LOOK SHOULD BE PROFESSIONAL. [CHECK WITH YOUR SITE DIRECTOR TO SEE A SAMPLE GOWN.]

Graduation Center

For a chance to see announcements and ring samples, to verify your audit, check your cap and gown order, and to visit with the cashier and financial aid, plan to come to one of the two graduation centers to be offered in spring semester. Details will be mailed to all applicants.

It’s a good time to begin celebrating what you’ve accomplished!!

Completing Degree Requirements

Summer graduates must be registered for ALL remaining courses to walk in the May ceremony.  You will be able to register for summer when early registration for fall opens. 

Consequences for failure to complete all degree requirements in the term for which application was made:

  • Students who receive incompletes but clear them within the following term will receive their diploma after all grades are posted and requirements met.
  • Students who failed or did not register for a required course must re-apply for graduation in the term in which the degree requirements are actually met. There is an addtional $50 graduation fee.
