Barons have two GACC games rained out

The Brewton-Parker College baseball team got in just one game of its three-game Georgia-Alabama-Carolina Conference series over the weekend, with North Georgia College and State University holding the Barons to just four hits in taking Friday's single game 7-0 at the Brewton-Parker field.
Saturday's doublehedeader was rained out, with a make-up date not yet set. The loss left the Barons 9-5 overall and 2-2 in the GACC.
Senior Ricky Nelson and junior Eric Prevatt had two hits apiece to account for the Barons' four hits against the Saints (5-14, 1-0 after the win).
Sophomore left-hander Trae Wiggins (1-3) allowed seven hits and five runs (three earned) with six strikeouts and two walks in 6-1/3 innings as the Brewton-Parker starter. He was responsible for the four North Georgia runs in the top of the seventh inning that gave the Saints a 6-0 lead.
"They just played the game right," Brewton-Parker pitching coach Mike Rodgers said.
The Barons opened this week with a non-conference doubleheader at home against King College (Tenn.) and a non-conference game Tuesday at Albany State University.
Brewton-Parker returns to GACC action Friday with a twin bill at Southern Wesleyan University in Central, S.C., beginning at 6 p.m. The teams play a nine-inning game Saturday at 1 p.m.
A game scheduled for Thursday at Erskine College in Anderson, S.C., was canceled.
The Barons' next home action is March 14 with a 6 p.m. single game against Southern Polytechnic State University to kick off a weekend GACC series.
