DR. NICOLE SHEPARD NAMED NEW CFO

AT BREWTON-PARKER COLLEGE

Dr. Nicole Shepard

MOUNT VERNON—President Ergun Caner announced the promotion of a familiar face today at Brewton-Parker College. Dr. Nicole Shepard, who has taught at BPC since 2007, has been named the college's Chief Financial Officer.

"I consider this morning's announcement to be one that will resonate with consensus," Caner stated, "because Dr. Shepard is already one of the most beloved and trusted faculty members on this campus."

A 2003 graduate of the Georgia Southern University in Business Administration and Finance, Shepard completed her M.B.A. in 2007 and then earned her Ph.D. in Applied Management and Decision Sciences from Walden University.

According to the President, her strengths are a perfect fit for the challenges of the new position. "Her dissertation is entitled 'Ethical Decision Making in Private Colleges: The Relationship to the Auditor's Opinion.' That is perfect! I have set our course clearly in my first few months here at BPC- we want to demonstrate the highest ethical standards in every venue of this college. We want to prove to everyone that we shall operate with a demanding transparency. That is Dr. Shepard's heart as well."

Brewton-Parker College is currently completing its financial reports for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) auditors this semester. The successful completion of those reports and standards will bring the college completely off probation and in good standing.

Caner continued, "Over the course of the last five years, BPC has made incredible progress in both our financial and academic standards. We are deeply indebted to those who have sacrificed so much to bring us to this point. The work of proving financial viability and stewardship is incredibly time consuming, a massive undertaking. Dr. Shepard will be working alongside myself, our Academic Provost Dr. Tim Searcy, and our entire Financial team, to submit a successful report. I have the highest confidence in her ability, because she has proven it for years here at our college, as a faculty member, internal auditor, and Senior Accountant."

A native of Dublin, Georgia, Nicole has been married to Scott Shepard for ten years, and they are the proud parents of Ryleigh, age 8.

Dr. Shepard is also a member of the National Association of Colleges and University Business Officers (NACUBO), and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
