Living Life to the Max

Dr. Frank Cox

Dr. Frank Cox has pastored in Lawrenceville for 31 years, leading the congregation through many changes including a $25 million dollar relocation which included changing the name from Pleasant Hill to North Metro First Baptist in 1995 on the church’s 102nd birthday.

MOUNT VERNON—Dr. Frank Cox, Senior Pastor of North Metro First Baptist Church in Lawrenceville, Ga., brought an inspiring message to the student body during BPC’s eighth chapel service on Tuesday, March 20, encouraging the students to “live your life to the max,” seeking a purpose and meaning through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He challenged listeners to “make a difference in your generation” and “demonstrate that Christianity is real.”

“It’s not about better living,” Dr. Cox instructed, quoting a Chinese Christian, Watchman Nee, who was persecuted and imprisoned for his faith. “It’s about better dying. In order to maximize your Christian life, you must abandon your life completely; become true seekers of wisdom and love. If you keep living to the max and follow Christ daily,” Pastor Cox assured, “you will have a testimony.”

A native of Tallahassee, Florida, Dr. Cox is a graduate of Truett-McConnell College in Cleveland, Georgia; Mercer University in Atlanta (BA-1978); earned his Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1980, and received his Doctor of Ministry from Luther Rice Seminary in Atlanta. He has served in many leadership positions over the years including two-term President of the Georgia Baptist Convention and one term as First Vice President of the Southern Baptist Convention. In addition, Dr. Cox is a published author of two outstanding spiritual reads, “Trusting God’s Heart” and “Legacy: One Life to Live.”
