BPC Welcomes New Members to Board of Trustees

MOUNT VERNON— The Brewton-Parker College Board of Trustees welcomed 10 new members to its 31-member board Jan. 20, announced Dr. Mike Simoneaux, BPC president.

The new board members are Gary Black of Atlanta, Aubrey Daniels of Tucker, Fred Gilder of Glenwood, Ray Goff of Athens, Michael Jenkins of Bonaire, Bucky Kennedy of Vidalia, Michael Pigg of Lithonia, Ray Sullivan of Cordele, Jay Williams of Albany, and Dannie Williams of Lyons.

Mr. Gary Black and his wife, Lydia, are members of First Baptist Church, Maysville.  He is Commissioner for the Georgia Department of Agriculture.  Mr. Black holds a degree in agricultural education from the University of Georgia.

Dr. Aubrey Daniels and his wife, Rebecca (Becky), are members of Brairlake Baptist Church, Decatur.  He is owner of Aubrey Daniels International Management Consultants in Atlanta.  Dr. Daniels holds a bachelor of arts in psychology and religion from Furman University, and a master’s and doctorate of clinical psychology from the University of Florida.

Mr. Fred Gilder and his wife, Jeannie, are members of First Baptist Church, Glenwood.  Mr. Gilder served on our board of trustees from 2004-2008.  He is vice president of Gilder Timber, Inc. in Glenwood.  Mr. Gilder is a graduate of Georgia College and has a bachelor of business administration with a concentration in management.  “As a Brewton Parker College trustee I hope to accomplish, along with the entire board of trustees, the rich heritage this school has experienced in years past.  Also, as a trustee I hope to help see the college grow in numbers along with Christian ethics.”

Mr. Ray Goff, CEO of Goff Enterprises, is a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church, Watkinsville. Mr. Goff earned a bachelor of science degree from University of Georgia.

Mr. Michael Jenkins, president of Rightway Drywall Inc. in Macon, is a member of First Baptist Church, Centerville.  Jenkins is a former trustee having served from 2005-2009.  “It is an honor and a privilege for me to be asked and to serve as one of the trustees on the board at Brewton-Parker College.  During this time, it is important for me to know as much as possible about the history and make-up of Brewton-Parker College,” said Jenkins.  “I hope to get to know the personnel and to develop relationships while serving.  Above all, I hope to accomplish God’s mission and bring glory and honor to Him in every way possible.  His mission is my first goal.”

Rev. Bucky Kennedy and his wife, Stacey, are members of First Baptist Church, Vidalia, where he serves as senior pastor.  Rev. Kennedy is a Brewton-Parker alumni with an associate degree in psychology and a bachelor of science from Georgia Southern.  Kennedy will serve a four-year term which ends in 2016.  “As a Brewton-Parker College trustee I hope to see the vision of BPC grow in strength and size,” said Kennedy.

Rev. Michael Pigg and his wife, Beverly, are members of Philadelphia Baptist Church, Lithonia, where he serves as pastor.  Rev. Pigg received his bachelor’s degree from Austin Peay State University with a double major in music and history. He received his master of divinity at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.  Pastor Pigg understands the true value of God, church and family. He believes that Georgia Baptist have some of the best schools to which church families can send their beloved children. He stated, “There is neither a question nor doubt of the commitment to education and sound biblical principles of our administration and faculty at Brewton-Parker College. I find it a privilege and honor to be able to serve on a board of 31 committed trustee members at Brewton-Parker under the leadership of President Mike Simoneaux. With collaboration from the entire board, I plan to help Brewton-Parker become a leading choice for students in my area of influence.”

Rev. Ray Sullivan and his wife, Stephanie, are members of First Baptist Church, Cordele, where he serves as senior pastor.  Rev. Sullivan received his bachelor of arts in English from Mercer then went on to Southern Baptist Theological Seminary where he received his master’s in divinity and where he is currently working on a doctorate of ministry.  Rev. Sullivan is an active member in Rotary International.  He stated, “As a trustee I hope God will be using my time, talents, and resources for His glory at BPC.”

Rev. Dannie Williams and his wife, Gwen, are members of First Baptist Church, Lyons, where he serves as senior pastor.  Rev. Williams is a graduate of Criswell Bible College with a bachelor of arts in biblical study.  “As a BPC trustee I hope to encourage radical commitment to excellence in mission and ministry,” said Williams.

Dr. Jay Williams is a member of First Baptist Church, Albany.  Dr. Williams attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College where he majored in pre-dentistry.  He is a founding partner for Dental Partners of Southwest Georgia in Leesburg, where he currently practices.

Brewton-Parker College is the only accredited four-year Christian college in south Georgia.
