MOUNT VERNON— The Brewton-Parker College Athletic Department has announced the appointment of Jake Brumbelow as the institution’s new Barons Wrestling Coach.

Brewton-Parker’s Athletic Director Sheila Simmons is delighted with Brumbelow’s appointment. "We are excited about Coach Brumbelow and the start of our new wrestling program at BPC.  Jake is a great fit for our “Christ-centered” mission. He will be a great mentor for the student-athletes and an asset to our staff.  He has a wealth of knowledge and experience to build a competitive, well-respected program."

Brumbelow, originally from Cartersville, attended Woodland High school, graduating in 2002. While there he set many school and state records for the Wildcats wrestling team and holds the Georgia state record for the best single season record, recording 68 wins and 0 loses. The Cartersville native also won state titles in 2001 at 112lbs and 2002 at 119lbs, while compiling an impressive high school career record of 169-4.

After his successful high school career, Brumbelow became a four year starter at Carson Newman College. He was a team captain for two of his four seasons with the Eagles and earned national rankings at the DII level several seasons while competing at 133lbs compiling a career 148 college wins.

Coach Brumbelow comes to Brewton-Parker from West Virginia University Tech where in two seasons he rebuilt the program from scratch and gave the Bears their first ever program wins and most ever NAIA National Qualifiers.

"I am blessed for the opportunity of coming back to Georgia and starting the wrestling program at Brewton-Parker. Georgia has a great amount of support and talent when it comes to wrestling at all levels,” says Brumbelow.

Coach Brumbelow earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Human Exceptionalities and Masters Degree in Counseling from Carson Newman College in Tennessee.

Brewton-Parker College is the only accredited four-year Christian college in south Georgia.
