Board Reduces Tuition and Creates Brown School of Christian Studies

Brewton-Parker College Board of Trustees voted in its January meeting to reduce tuition by 25 percent, beginning Fall 2011 semester.


Heritage Chapel first BPC campus worship of 2011


Dr. David R. Smith, Brewton-Parker College President, addressed students, faculty and staff Jan. 18 in the first chapel of 2011 – the college’s Heritage Chapel. Heritage Chapel is intended to honor the history of Brewton-Parker, and Dr. Smith recalled the installation of the Warren C. Crawley memorial on the campus during his early years as president.


Young Writers Conference to feature Sian Jones

  The Division of Arts & Letters invites high school juniors and seniors to participate in the 10th Annual Young Writers Conference. The day-long workshop scholarship program will be held on Friday, Feb. 25.

BCM to offer two mission opportunities over breaks


Brewton-Parker College’s Baptist Collegiate Ministries (BCM) is accepting applications for mission trips to San Francisco, March 5-13, and Haiti, May 21-28. BCM advisor and BPC Campus Minister Lauren Parnell and Tonia Spaulding, director of counseling services, are leading the trip to Haiti.


Barons Basketball teams invites community to games

  Brewton-Parker College invites the community to come out to its Basketball Games on campus this week. Thursday, Jan. 27 is a big match up against conference opponent Shorter University.

BPC Board of Trustees accepts Pres. Smith resignation

  Brewton-Parker College’s Board of Trustees accepted the resignation of President Dr. David R. Smith Thursday, Jan. 20 during the regularly scheduled board meeting held on the Mount Vernon campus.

Toombs-Montgomery Leadership class visits Brewton-Parker

  Dr. David R. Smith, Brewton-Parker College president, addressed members of the Toombs-Montgomery Leadership class when they visited the Mount Vernon college Thursday, Jan. 13 for a luncheon presentation and campus tour.

BPC Spring Break mission trip scheduled for Belarus


Dr. Hal Ostrander, chair of Brewton-Parker College’s Division of Religion and Philosophy, looks forward to another successful and enjoyable Missions Practicum or Apologetics Practicum this spring to Minsk, Belarus.This will make the trip Brewton-Parker’s third visit. Students attending the course/trip during Spring Break will earn three hours of course credit.

All evening classes scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. or later for Monday, January 10, 2011 have been cancelled, Except the EDU Hybrid courses which will meet online as originally scheduled. All Classes will resume as originally scheduled on Tuesday, January 11, 2011.


Vidalia defeats Montgomery County at BPC Tournament

  The Vidalia Indians took the lead in the BPC Tournament Boys Championship game with Montgomery County during the 8th Annual BPC High School Christmas Tournament hosted by Brewton-Parker College, and sponsored by the Holiday Inn Express.

Three Baron Student-Athletes Named 2010 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes

  The NAIA has announced that 284 men's soccer student-athletes and a total of 387 volleyball players have been named 2010 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. 

BPC announces Tenth Annual Young Writers Conference

  The Arts & Letters Division of Brewton-Parker College is excited to announce that the Tenth Annual Young Writers Conference will be held this year on February 25, 2011.  For years this conference has been the ideal event in which high school students and faculty gather to participate in guided workshops and discussions about writing with professionals.
