BPC announces new scholarship for high achievers
MOUNT VERNON—Brewton-Parker College announces the creation of a new scholarship competition for all incoming freshmen, beginning Fall 2011.
The Pillars of Excellence Scholarship will be awarded to six academically-qualified freshmen each year. The $2,000 scholarship may be renewed annually for four years as long as recipients are enrolled full-time and maintain a requisite GPA. Scholarship winners will be chosen through a selection process with set deadlines, beginning with March 5, the date the online application is due.
The minimum criteria for consideration are an SAT score of 1100 on the combined critical reading and math portions and a 3.25 high school GPA at time of application. A composite ACT score of at least 24 may be substituted for SAT scores.
Critical dates in the application process and the application form may be found online at http://www.bpc.edu/admissions/pillarsofexcellence.htm.
Applicants will be interviewed by the Academic Selection Committee March 19. The applicant will write a timed, hand-written essay on this day prior to the interviews. The essay topic will be provided at the time of composition.
The six winners of the scholarship will be announced no later than March 29. This scholarship is to be used in addition to any federal and state money the student may be eligible to receive or any other Brewton-Parker scholarships he or she may be offered.
