MOUNT VERNON –Jordan McClellan, a 2011 Creekview High School (Canton, Ga.) graduate, puts others first while serving this summer at Pine Cove Christian Camps, a ministry, that for 43 years, has sought to glorify God through Christian camping.

The first year 19-year-old student-athlete has yet to step foot on the campus of Brewton-Parker College, but he is already making a statement of what to expect from him during his next four years.

“Before Jordan committed to BPC, I knew he was a perfect fit for the Men's Soccer program,” said Coach Mike Dye. “We have great individuals on this team and adding a person like Jordan only strengthens us even more. Anytime someone serves on the mission field, they come back a stronger person. I am excited to see how God will use him throughout his time as a Baron.”

Jordan’s heart for others is also seen by his family members. His aunt, Kim Butler, said her nephew is an exceptional young man.

“Jordan displays great leadership qualities on and off the soccer field, and he has a passion for Christ and a passion for people. Jordan has a heart for people with disabilities, as seen while he coached the men's Special Olympics basketball team for the state of Georgia. He was accepted to participate in a five-week discipleship program for high school seniors at Pine Cove Christian Camps in Tyler, Texas. All in all, Jordan is great at helping others and puts others before himself.”

The Barons Men's Soccer team will soon begin pre-season practices, with their first scrimmage against USC-Salkehatchie on August 12.  Kick-off is scheduled for 3 p.m. in Mount Vernon. The community is encouraged to come watch collegiate soccer. There is no admission cost.

Brewton-Parker College is the only accredited four-year Christian college in south Georgia.
