Message from the Provost regarding Retrenchment
MOUNT VERNON—This message is from Dr. Ron Melton, Provost, and concerns the retrenched majors.
“Currently enrolled students in discontinued majors can complete those degrees through a combination of regular courses, independent study courses, course substitution with the recommendation of the advisor, transient and transfer work even if they do not do so by the end of Spring 2010. Discontinuance of the impacted majors means that we will not continue to accept students in those programs.
We want to help all current students who desire to do so to finish their degrees. Our hope is that all current students will stay with us, and I am asking all advisors to work with every individual student to achieve this goal. The advice previously given remains true. Students just starting their degrees may be best advised to seek a closely related major.
Some students have raised questions about our accreditation. We are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Dr. Smith is keeping SACS fully informed of the actions we are taking. We are in the midst of the regular 10 year reaffirmation of accreditation process.”
Brewton-Parker College is the only accredited four-year Christian college in south Georgia.
