According to Jeff McCormick, Journey senior pastor, the athletic camp geared to school age youngsters was well attended, with more than 150 local children participating in the three-day camp. BPC coaches and coaching staff participated in the project, as the leaders of basketball, soccer and baseball clinics.
“Dr. Lee Cheek, vice president for College Advancement at Brewton-Parker College, came out to watch his coaches and was simply amazed at what was happening in the community through Journey and BPC,” said McCormick. “Thanks, Dr. Cheek, for allowing these godly men and women to help us transform our community with the gospel.”
McCormick adds that four campers accepted Christ as Savior during the event.
"What a great partnership!” adds Dr. Cheek. “In helping young people realize their full potential – physically, spiritually, and intellectually – we can truly nurture and empower the rising generation. Having witnessed the camp in action, I can attest to the grace-filled environment that encouraged the young people of our community to excel.”
Brewton-Parker College is the only accredited four-year Christian college in south Georgia.
