Phone-a-thon raises over $30,000 for McAllister Hall

MOUNT VERNON—More than $30,000 was raised during the Alumni & Friends Phone-a-thon earlier this month, said Director of Development Roger Byrd. Byrd and his staff in the Office of College Advancement set their goal at $25,000 – a very “aggressive” goal – and as of Friday, Oct. 19, $31,065 had been raised. All monies will be used for the McAllister Hall Renovation Project. The hall is the oldest women’s residence hall on the Mount Vernon campus, and is in need of updating and repairs. The Phone-a-thon was held in the lobby of this “grand dame.” Byrd explains, “If anyone thinks that Brewton-Parker alums don’t love BPC and McAllister Hall, all they need do is look at this total. The BPC family rallied to make this phone-a-thon the most successful ever. We were able to triple our last phone-a-thon numbers and everyone had fun doing it.” Byrd adds that the winners of the calling prizes were volunteers and BPC students Rachel Underwood and Rebecca Josey.
