According to Assistant BPC Baseball Coach Andrew Gernatt, about 50 prospective student baseball players from across Georgia and parts of Florida and South Carolina participated in BPC-led scrimmages and practices during the day-long event Saturday, Nov. 3.

Nine scouts from other colleges and universities also showed up to watch and possibly recruit players for their programs as well. These colleges included Piedmont College, Young Harris College, South Georgia College, Valdosta State University, Georgia Southwestern University, Abraham Baldwin College, Beville State Community College and Tusculum College, said Gernatt.

“We had a good turnout,” said Gernatt. “Everything ran smoothly. Admissions did a good job with tours. (Current BPC baseball) players did a great job of answering questions from parents.”

The BPC baseball team’s 2008 season begins in late January. To learn more about the baseball program, look online at www.bpc.edu/athletics/baseball/baseball.htm.
