MOUNT VERNON—Brewton-Parker College recently received a $50,000 unrestricted contribution from a prominent Atlanta philanthropy, The John & Mary Franklin Foundation, Inc., announced Pamela Davis, vice president for college advancement at the college.
This two-year grant shows continued support from the foundation for Brewton-Parker’s mission, Davis added. The foundation contributed gifts to the college in both 2005 and 2006.
“The John & Mary Franklin Foundation has become a real friend of this college. This is just an outstanding gift,” said Davis.
The John & Mary Franklin Foundation, Inc. has been active in the state of Georgia since being granted charitable status in 1956. The independent foundation’s purpose is to support arts and culture, children and youth, education and health. The $50,000 grant will be distributed to the college over two years, at $25,000 each year, beginning November, 2007, said Davis.
Brewton-Parker College is the only four-year, liberal arts Christian college in Southeast Georgia. Affiliated with the Georgia Baptist Convention, the college offers 37 majors and 23 minors of study in a caring, Christian environment that nurtures the whole student.
