'Under the Arch' – Another way to get to know BPC
MOUNT VERNON—Brewton-Parker College is excited to announce the addition of a radio segment that will serve to increase awareness of the latest news and events happening on the Mount Vernon campus.
“Under the Arch”, a two-minute weekly segment produced by BPC’s Office of Marketing, premiered August 6 over the Sweet Onion Radio Network in Vidalia (97.7 FM, 101.7 FM, and 970 AM).
“We’re extremely excited about this venture for Brewton-Parker College,” said Taylor Hereford, BPC’s Director of Marketing. “Through this segment, people will be able to take an exclusive audio tour of our campus. Not only will you be able to catch up on the latest campus news but you’ll also learn of exciting events that will be taking place throughout the coming academic year.”
Dr. Cindy Skaruppa, Vice President for Enrollment Services at BPC, is looking forward to reaching out to the regional community even more through “Under the Arch” and hopes people will take advantage of the many opportunities afforded to them by the college.
"As I was preparing to begin my affiliation with Brewton-Parker College, there were two things of which I was absolutely sure. One was the unwavering commitment to provide a quality Christian education to all students. The other was the many opportunities for community involvement on campus," said Dr. Skaruppa. "Whether it's the Albert Sidney Johnson Lecture Series, our Division of Music performances, various theatre productions, or the play of one of our seven athletic teams, we have something for everyone.”
“By utilizing the resources of Vidalia Communications as well as those in the regional area, it's our hope that 'Under the Arch' will be yet another avenue by which the community will become involved in the many exciting things that are happening at Brewton-Parker College,” Dr. Skaruppa continued.
In addition to the campus news and event information that will be available, Hereford hopes listeners will also get to know another very important aspect to the college – its people.
“Our administration, faculty, staff, and students are top notch,” said Hereford, “and we hope that through this segment people throughout the region will not only learn about what’s happening on our campus, but will also come to know the people of BPC more closely than before.”
The college has produced a segment similar to this in the past, according to Zack Fowler, general manager of Vidalia Communications Corporation. Fowler speaks positively about the revitalization of the segment on the local airwaves.
“Brewton-Parker College is vital to the quality of life in our listening area. In addition to its curriculum, faculty and student body, it offers a wide variety of educational and cultural opportunities to local citizens,” he said. “We’re excited that our stations have been selected to help inform folks about what’s happening on campus. I’m sure people will be glad to hear more about the important role Brewton-Parker plays in our region.”
Plans are underway to expand the reach of “Under the Arch” into additional radio markets outside of Vidalia and will hopefully be announced soon. For now, the segment can be heard Monday mornings at the following times – 8:12 a.m. on 970 AM; 8:15 a.m. on 101.7 FM; 8:31 a.m. on 97.7 FM.
