What
is Verification?
The Department of Education
randomly selects approximately 30% of the students who complete
FAFSAs for verification. The verification process requires
that the Financial Aid Office verify information submitted
on the FAFSA. No federal funds can be disbursed to students
selected for the verification process until all required
forms are received and the process is complete. In addition,
the student may not place for Work-Study until verification
is completed.
For the 2009-2010 academic year, the Financial Aid Office will request signed copies of the student’s complete 2008 tax returns and 2008 W2, the parent’s complete 2008 tax return and 2008 W2(if the student is a dependent), and a verification work-sheet is available on the Printable Financial Aid Documents page or click on the link below. If additional information is needed, the Financial Aid Office will contact the student.
