The Business Division at Brewton-Parker College has a distinguished history. It has been chaired by Professors Libby, Lethander, Lawrence, Williamson, and is currently lead by Charlene Williams. The division offers BBA in Management, Information Systems, Accounting, General Business, and a Technical Management degree for students with a technical college degree that wishes to move into management.
The purpose of the division is to prepare its graduates for careers in business. The curriculum is dynamic and has changed over the decades, but it has always focused on a solid foundation in management, marketing, accounting, and information systems. Each class has a component that reflects the college’s commitment to faith in learning and all the faculty teach from a world view that understands the importance of strong moral character in today’s business world.
While coursework and classes are the central system of learning in the division, the faculty also value interaction with students outside of the classroom setting. The instructors mentor students and stay in touch with them even after graduation. Each Spring the division hosts a special dinner to honor the new graduates and to encourage lower classmen. The faculty also are active in academic organizations like related to their fields and encourage students to participate in civic and service organizations.
Currently Circle K, the college branch of the Kiwanis is sponsored by a business faculty member. This tradition began two decades ago and is still an important part of the division.
