Greg "Boo" Mullins - Head Coach

This will be Head Coach Greg "Boo" Mullins' second season at the helm for the Brewton-Parker Barons. In his first season as the head coach, the Barons compiled a record of 27-28, earned a birth in the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament, and had one player (Randy Hamrick, 19th Round, Diamondbacks) drafted to play professional baseball.
A native of Palatka, Fla., Coach Mullins pitched for two years at St. Johns River Community College before moving on to pitch at the University of North Florida.
After college, Mullins signed as an undrafted free agent with the Milwaukee Brewers organization where he immediately began making his way towards the big leagues. After three years of minor league baseball, and 55 career saves, he made his major league debut on Sept. 18, 1998 against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Mullins made his coaching debut as the pitching coach at the University of North Florida in 2003. That year, UNF went 39-18, and the pitching staff was second in the conference with a 3.69 ERA.
After UNF, Mullins worked as an assistant with the Georgia Stars, a powerhouse among high school summer ball organizations. In two seasons with the stars, Coach Mullins helped the team to a 79-2 record, and two national championships (USSSA World Series, Triple Crown Summer National).
After much success as an assistant, Mullins was ready to try his hand as a head coach. In 2005, he accepted the head coaching position at Nease High School in St. Augustine, Fla., where he coached current Florida Gator Quarterback Tim Tebow. In his two seasons at the helm, the Panthers were ranked as high as 3rd in the state, and went a combined 49-12. The Panthers made a trip to the FHSAA Regional Finals both seasons, and made it to the Final Four in 2005. 13 seniors from those two teams went on to continue their careers in college.
Mullins left Nease at the end of the 2006 season, and accepted the head coaching position at University Christian School in Jacksonville, Fla. After posting a 6-19 record the year before his arrival, the Fightin' Christians went 40-12 during Mullins' two year stint, and were ranked as high as 2nd in the state.
Mullins graduated from Palatka High School in 1990, received his Associates Degree from SJRCC in 1992, and received his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, with a minor in Sociology from the University of North Florida in 2001.
Greg "Boo" Mullins was born December 13, 1971 and also enjoys hunting and NASCAR. He met his wife, Shannon, while at UNF, and together they have two beautiful children, Garrett (6), and Gabriele (4), and are expecting a third child (a little girl), later this year.

Joey Russell - Assistant Coach

This will be Assistant Coach Joey Russell's second season with the Barons. Russell came to Brewton-Parker after two seasons as the head baseball coach at Colonial High School in Orlando, Fla. While at Colonial, Russell also taught Algebra II and Geometry.
Prior to being a head coach, Russell was an assistant for two years under Coach Mullins at Nease High School.
A native of Maitland, Fla., Russell graduated from Winter Park High School in 2000 and continued his playing career at Florida Community College at Jacksonville, before moving on to the University of North Florida. Russell played for Coach Mullins in 2003, and was named a 1st team All-Conference, and 1st team All-Region 1st baseman in 2004.
Russell received his Associates Degree from FCCJ in 2002, and his Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering from UNF in 2006.
Coach Russell and his wife Ronda are expecting their first child (a little girl) in November.
