All about my trip to Moldova with the Jubalheirs...

Eleven days in June, a mission trip to the Republic of Moldova, that 60 Jubalheirs will never forget. I was fortunate to be one of those making the trip.  I was the Worship Leader in a Russian speaking church and conducted Choir Two.  We had to split into two choirs and yes, I did have an interpreter who told me when to sit, stand, and lead a hymn.  I even had to answer some personal questions from the pulpit from the curious pastor!!

We held a Music Conference for the Baptist Seminary in Chisinau, the largest city, and I taught two sessions on Conducting and How to Lead a Choir.  About 100 in attendance and I spoke English, my interpreter Russian, and the Romanian speaking wore earphones as it was interpreted for them. What a  thrill and blessing to hear a hymn being sung in three different languages at the same time!!

Back in the Winter we had purchased a piece of property with a house on it in a small village to begin a new church.  We dedicated that new church with its 20 members and presented the pastor with a plaque, a Altar Bible and a Baptist Hymnal, signed by all of us.

We sang 13 concerts in 10 days but the most memorable was at a Christian orphanage.  There were 40 boys and girls, ages 2-9 who were never visited by any group or given any gifts.  The children stole our hearts as they presented songs and scripture for us.  They had no refrigerator, they do now!!! We taught them to eat eskimo pie ice cream!!  For the first time they ate pizza!!!  We now are preparing book bags filled with items ( jackets, tennis shoes, socks, gloves, some toy items) to send them for Christmas.  They stole our hearts and now they have US!!  We will forever have this connection as a result of sharing God's love abroad!!

Ms. Hiddie recently had to brag about one of her biddies. Molly Williams, '98, has been singing Christian music around the world with a group in Charlotte, N.C. since graduating from BPC.  Since March she has been traveling and singing back-up with Wynona Judd.  She will soon be cutting her second CD. Congratulations Molly! We are so proud of you!

GRADUATION

MEMBERS OF THE HALF-CENTURY CLUB WALKED WITH THE CLASS OF 2007

HCC at graduation

The Class of 2007 was honored to have members of the Half-Century Club walk with them during graduation on May 12, 2007. This is the first time this event has occurred and there were 7 participants. We hope to double or even triple this number for next year, so Half-Century Clubbers get your walking shoes on and get ready to walk with the Class of 2008!

JONES LAKE OVERHAUL

JONES LAKE

Brewton-Parker alumnus Gary Braddy gave Jones Lake a little bit of TLC with the help of his construction company in July. The lake was drained during the spring in preparation for the construction to begin. The lake's face lift will include a new island equiped with a bridge and gazebo, a picnic area, paddle boats, and new marine life. The project should be complete by the spring of 2008. The funds have been raised through the generosity of the Half-Century Club.
