Online Application for the Pillars of Excellence Scholarship
2.  Required documents:

  • Official high school transcript
  • SAT or ACT scores
  • Minimum of 3.25 accumulative GPA on his/her high school transcript.
  • Two letters of recommendation:
    • A letter from your high school guidance counselor or school official
    • A character reference from a member of your local community
  • One letter from you stating why you should receive the Pillars of Excellence scholarship.

When writing your letter, we would like you to consider the purpose of the Pillars scholarship. We want to award students who excel in academics and community service. Also, the College thrives on students who are proactive in creating and/or assisting student led organizations on campus. Furthermore, we desire students with great work ethic and who will represent Brewton-Parker well. Please note specific examples of what you are doing now that will show us that you will deserve the Pillars of Excellence scholarship.

Students who are home schooled must present two references as well,  but as they have no guidance counselor or school official other than parents, may select two others to write the letters.  Select carefully.  Ideally, they would be able to attest to your academic ability and performance as well as your character.

Selection Process

e have changed the interview process to a write-in submission. For those who submitted their materials on time they will be sent another packet. In this packet is two essay questions and the participant must choose one topic and write a 2-3 page paper and submit it by Tuesday, April 14th.

The Committee will meet to review each completed portfolio and will place applicants on a list in ranked order.  Five winners will be selected to receive the Pillars of Excellence scholarship.  All students will be notified of the outcome no later than Thursday April 16th.

Interviewees not selected in the top 5 will be on a waiting list in order of their rankings.  Should a winner decline the scholarship, alternates will be chosen from the waiting list until all 5 scholarships have been awarded and accepted.
